Future FC were not able to put their possession dominance to good effect after they were forced to settle for a draw against Eastern Company in the Egyptian Premier League. The hosts were expected to get a comfortable win against the bottom side in the league when they faced each other on Sunday. They started well and even took the lead when Ahmed Refaat El Sawy converted a penalty. However, they were not able to build on the advantage, allowing the visitors to come back into the game. Mohammed Saleh’s header at the end of the first half was enough for Eastern Company to secure a draw. As it stands, Future FC are fourth in the table with 36 points from 21 games, while Eastern Company are at the bottom of the standings with 13 points from 20 matches.

How did the match turn out?

At the start of the match, Future FC were in the topmost positions, while Eastern Company were struggling near the foot of the table. Being the home side, Future were the clear favourites for this clash and they began well. Aymen Sfaxi headed a cross from Jonathan Ngwen over the crossbar. Not long after they opened the scoring. They won a penalty in the 13th minute which was well converted by Ahmed Refaat El Sawy into the bottom right corner, as the hosts took a deserved lead.

Towards the end of the half, Mohammed Saleh converted a Neteb’s corner kick from close range to level the scoreline.

Future FC vs Eastern Company: Tightly contested second half

Soon after, Aymen Sfaxi had a chance to put the hosts back in lead, however, his header from the centre of the box was too high. With no more action in the game, the half finished 1-1. Future FC started the second period on the front foot and immediately started to test their opposition goal. Mohamed Farouk’s header from Mohamed Reda’s cross was blocked. Then the match started to become a bit more technical and the chances were hard to come by.

Deep in the half, Ahmed Refaat El Sawy’s effort from the box was heading to the bottom left corner but was well saved. Then the home keeper produced a good save to deny Mohamed Naser. Against the run of play, the visiting team almost took the lead when Mohammed Saleh’s header narrowly missed the post. In the end, Future FC were not able to make the most of the 68% possession they enjoyed against Eastern Company and had to settle for a draw.
