Egypt put three goals past Niger without reply courtesy of a brace from Mohamed Salah and one goal from Mostafa Mohamed. In what was his first game in charge of Egypt, newly-appointed head coach Rui Vitoria would have been impressed by his team’s dominant performance. Prior to that, the Pharaohs suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Ethiopia in their second game in Group D of the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers on June 9, before losing 4-1 against South Korea in a friendly five days later.

Faycal Fajr and Youssef En Nesyri netted for the Atlas Lions to secure all three points. Liberia’s last win came against Central African Republic (3-1) in their last match of the World Cup qualifier in November, 2021.
