Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard continues to be plagued by fitness issues in the Spanish capital. After a disappointing debut season, an optimistic Eden Hazard asked the fans to judge him on his second season at the club. To his surprise, Hazard’s second season has once again been an unconvincing one. The Belgian has struggled with injuries and is yet to deliver a masterclass performance in the white shirt.

Los Blancos paid a fortune in 2019, a club-record transfer fee worth 100 million euros to sign Eden Hazard from Chelsea.  The expectations set were sky high after Hazard’s performance with the Blues in the 2018/19 season. He scored 21 goals and provided 17 assists in all competitions. However, his consistent injuries over the past two seasons at the Spanish capital have limited and hindered the 30 year old’s ability to perform at his optimal levels.

Injury-prone Eden Hazard?

Hazard is not a part of the team’s squad for the home match against Villarreal. This is a game Real need to win to have a chance of defending the Spanish league title. They enter the final round two points behind Atletico Madrid, who visit relegation threatened Valladolid.

Hazard appeared to have put his injury issues behind him recently but has frustratingly suffered yet another setback.

“He didn’t practice with the squad and we are not going to take any risks,” Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane said on Friday.

However, Sergio Ramos is back in the squad after recovering fully from the injury issues that recently set him back.

Whereas rivals Atletico Madrid are all set to clinch the title on Sunday. They have no injury issues and have all their main players available for the final game week of La Liga. A win for Atletico Madrid will make them champions for the first time since 2014.
