Derby beat Barnsley 3-0 in the FA Cup third round match on January 8. The Rams broke the deadlock through James Collins on the stroke of half-time, before Tom Barkhizien doubled the lead on the hour mark. And then, Jason Knight’s 79th-minute strike sealed Derby’s win and passage through to the last-16 stage of the Cup competition.. After that, Paul Warne’s side registered three back-to-back league-wins against Cheltenham (3-2), Bolton (2-1) and Port Vale. Last time out, the Rams got the better of Port Vale, through late efforts from David McGoldrick and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing. It was their sixth consecutive win across all competitions.
West Ham, on the other hand, are struggling in the top flight, having recorded just five wins from 20 Premier League games this season. Their most recent success came against Everton last Saturday, courtesy of a first-half brace from Jarrod Bowen. The result helped the Hammers move one point clear of the relegation zone. Meanwhile, David Moyes’ side edged past Brentford 1-0 in the previous round of the FA Cup on January 7. Said Benrahma’s 79th-minute strike separated the two sides at Gtech Community Stadium.
