The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a dominant 4-0 win over Accrington Stanley last Monday, while Barnsley were thrashed 3-0 by Bolton Wanderers, on the same day.
League One sides Derby County and Barnsley will go head-to-head in a FA Cup third round fixture at Pride Park stadium on Sunday afternoon. Both clubs are heading into the match on the back of contrasting results in their respective league-fixtures last Monday. The hosts secured a dominant 4-0 win over Accrington Stanley, while Barnsley were thrashed 3-0 by Bolton Wanderers. The victory helped Derby County to move to fourth spot in the English third tier standings, having collected 41 points from 24 games, while the visitors are sitting two places behind them, with just one point less to their name. Meanwhile, this will be the first FA Cup meeting between these two teams since 1897, when the Rams secured a 8-1 win.

Derby extended their unbeaten run to 10 games across all competitions, when they thrashed Accrington 4-0 at home ground last weekend. Tom Barkhuizen scored a double, while the likes of Conot Hourihane and David McGoldrick netted one goal each for the Rams to take all three points. Paul Warne’s side are a difficult side to beat, having tasted only four defeats in their last 15 outings across all competitions. Meanwhile, the Rams were eliminated at the third stage of the FA cup in the last two editions and will be desperate to get one step further this time around. In this year’s competition, Derby overcame Torquay (5-0) and Newport County (2-1) in the previous rounds to reach this far.
Barnsley, on the other hand, got the better of Bolton (2-1) in the first round, before thrashing Crewe Alexandra 3-0 in the second round of this year’s FA Cup. The Tykes, meanwhile, suffered a humiliating loss to Bolton last Monday, having conceded three times without reply. Dion Charles opened the scoring from the penalty spot, inside the opening 14 minutes, before Jan Bovarsson doubled the lead, five minutes from time. And then, Kyle Dempsey sealed Bolton’s win with their third of the night, 14 minutes from time. Michael Duff’s side remain in the playoffs but are 12 points adrift of the top two.
