Denmark will host Austria in a UEFA Nations League fixture at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen on Monday. The hosts head into the tie on the back of a 1-0 loss against Croatia, while Austria played out a goalless draw against France, last time out. With three rounds of games completed, Denmark occupy the top spot in League A Group 1 with six points, while the Boys are placed at the second spot, just two points behind the leaders. Meanwhile the Danish Dynamite has won the last four meetings against Austria, including back-to-back victories in Parken. The Danes have already beaten the Boys in this group, claiming a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture.

Danish Dynamite made a stunning start to their 2022-23 Nations League campaign, defeating world champions France 2-1 at Stade de France, earlier this month, before getting the better of Austria with an identical scoreline in the reverse fixture. And then, Kasper Hjulmand went down to 2018 world cup finalists courtesy of Mario Pasalic’s lone second-half goal. The Danes failed to take advantage of a Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic-less Croatia side for 45 minutes at Parken stadium on Friday. Denmark were made to pay for their missed chances as Croatia came out all guns blazing in the second half, found the back of the net in the 69th minute and secured all three points. Defeat to the Blazers ended Denmark’s six-game winning run on home turf.

Austria on the other hand, wouldn’t be too disappointed after the three games, having collected four points to sit at the second spot above heavyweights Croatia and France. In the last game at Ernst Happel stadium, Austria took the lead through Andreas Weimann in the 37th minute. After taking the lead, Ralf Rangnick’s side sat back and defended deep, their game plan worked for a major part of the game, until substitute Kylian Mbappe’s 83rd-minute response forced a share of spoils. It has been a campaign for mixed fortunes for Rangnick’s side, having started with a thrilling 3-0 win over Croatia before going down to Denmark and then, sharing the points against the Les Blues.
