The visitors are just one win away from securing a place in the finals of the 2022-23 Nations League as they currently lead the way in League A Group 1 with nine points to their name.
Croatia will host Denmark in a UEFA Nations League fixture at the Stadion Maksimir on Thursday night. The hosts were last in action on June 14 against France and the match ended 1-0 in favour of the Blazers, while Denmark secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Austria on the same day. The visitors are close to securing a place in the finals of the 2022-23 Nations League as they currently lead the way in League A Group 1 with nine points to their name. Croatia, meanwhile , are occupying second position in the group with seven points, three clear of Austria, whom they face on September 25.

Defeat on Thursday would therefore end Croatian dream of Nations League glory for the third successive cycle, as they secured back-to-back third-placed finishes in the 2018-19 and 2020-21 editions. Meanwhile Zlatko Dalic’s side would be high on confidence after earning a fighting win against 2018 world champions France, more than three months ago. Luka Modric’s lone goal from the penalty spot inside the opening five minutes separated the two sides at stade de France.
Denmark, on the other hand, are just one win away from securing their place in the Nations League finals. Kasper Hjulmand’s side have done a brilliant job thus far, to register three wins from four games, and that too from a group consisting of the current world champions and runners-up from 2018. The Red and whites ended their June round of fixtures by securing all three points against Austria. Jonas Wind and Andreas Skov Olsen netted for the Danish Dynamites at Parken to secure the win. It was Denmark’s fourth victory in their last five games across all competitions. Meanwhile, ironically, the Danish Dynamites’ last defeat came against Croatia (1-0) on June 11.
Croatia boss Dalic is likely to opt for a strong starting lineup captained by Luka Modric. Marcelo Brozovic and Mateo Kovacic are likely to join the veteran Real Madrid-man in the engine room. Hoffenheim player Andrej Kramaric could be the target-man up front with Vlasic and Pasalic occupying the flanks. As for Denmark, Manchester United-man Christian Eriksen is likely to pull the strings in the midfield, with Braithwaite leading the line alongside Damsgaard and Skov Olsen.
Croatia probable starting lineup: Livakovic, Juranovic, Gvardiol, Vida, Sosa, Brozovic, Pasalic, Modric, Kovacic, Vlasic, Kramaric
Denmark probable starting lineups: Schmeichel, Christensen, Andersen, Nelsson, Kristensen, Hojbjerg, Eriksen, Maehle, Skov Olsen, Braithwaite, Damsgaard.
The UEFA Nations League match between Croatia and Denmark will take place at Stadion Maksimir on Friday at 12:15 am IST.
