Croatia handed Canada a 4-1 defeat to end their World Cup dreams. Croatia locked horns with Canada on Matchday two of the Group F clash of the FIFA World Cup at the Khalifa International. Croatia came into the contest after a 0-0 stalemate against Morocco. On the other hand, Canada entered the contest after a 1-0 defeat to Belgium. Alphonso Davies scored within 120 seconds to put Canada ahead. Croatia came back into the contest with goals from Andrej Kramaric and Marko Livaja in the first half to seal the game for the Croatians. Alphonso Davies scores Canada’s first goal at the World Cup

Canada played with a 4-4-2 formation, with Alphonso Davies and Tajon Buchanan playing as their two wingbacks on either side. Canada got off to a flying start when Buchanan lashed a perfect cross into the penalty area between two Croatian defensive players, which Alphonso Davies met delicately. The Bayern Munich star stepped up to the occasion, powering a header past Livakovic within 120 seconds to give Canada the lead.

Canada out of the World Cup after 36-year return 

After a 36-year absence, Canada returned to the FIFA World Cup and came to Qatar relying on their star player from Bayern Munich, Alphonso Davies. The Canadians had dropped to the bottom of their group following their 1-0 loss to Belgium on Wednesday. They came to Khalifa International Stadium under a lot of pressure to advance, but a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Croatia has completely wiped out their chances of qualifying, and they are now out of the World Cup.

The Croatian front three come to the party

Croatia didn’t panic after falling behind 1-0 in the second minute and went on to win the game 1-4 at the Khalifa International. Croatia’s front three of Andrej Kramaric, Marko Livaja, and Ivan Perisic dominated the first half against Canada. The Trio had ten shots in total, creating three chances, and finished the game with three goals and two assists. Kramaric was named Man of the Match for his brace against the Canadian side.
