Inter Milan will travel to Giovanni Zini Stadium to take on Cremonese in a Serie A fixture on Saturday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw against Bologna last weekend, while Inter suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat to Empoli, a day later. After thrashing city rivals AC Milan 3-0 in the final of Supercoppa Italiana last week, Inter returned to league duties with a disappointing 1-0 defeat to mid-table side Empoli, on Monday. Defender Milan Skriar was sent off five minutes before the break, giving a man-advantage to Empoli. The Blues made full use of it as Tommaso Baldanzi found the back of the net in the 66th-minute and Inter failed to respond. Empoli recorded eight shots on target compared to just one by Simone Inzahi’s side. It was Inter’s sixth Serie A defeat of the season. However, Nerazzuri have still won eight of their last 11 matches in the top flight including a 1-0 victory over Napoli, in the first week of january.Â
Cremonese, on the other hand, are yet to register their first top flight win this season. Last time out, the Tigers shared the spoils against Bologna. Davide Okereke’s 50th-minute penalty was soon canceled out by a Vlad Chiriches own goal. It was the Violins’ eighth league-draw of the season. Prior to that, Cremonese managed to get the better of an under-strength Napoli side in the Copa del Rey round of 16 fixture. Charles Pickel and Felix Afena-Gyan netted for the Gray and Reds and forced the match into extra time and thereby the penalties, where Cremonese prevailed 5-4.
