Club Brugge have made a brilliant start to their European campaign, having defeated Bayern Leverkusen (1-0) and Porto (4-0) in their opening two games in September. Against Porto, Ferran Jutgla, Kamal Sowah, Andreas Olsen and Antonio Nusa netted for the Blau-Zwart to secure all three points. Diego Simeone’s side took the lead through Marcus Llorente inside the opening half-hour mark, before Alvaro Morata’s 57th-minute strike doubled the lead and sealed the win. It was Atletico’s fourth win from their opening seven La Liga games and they are now sitting at the fifth position in the Spanish top flight standings. Meanwhile, the Colchoneros began their European campaign with a dramatic 2-1 win over Porto before losing 2-0 against Bayer Leverkusen in September.

Club Brugge midfielder Mats Rits is a long-term absence because of cruciate ligament injury, while Clinton Mata and Noa Lang are sidelined with ankle problems. Sowah is expected to lead the line with Olsen and Jutgla in support. As for Atletico, defender Sergio Reguilon is nursing an injury, while Felipe is unavailable because of a suspension from last season.
