Clermont will host Lille in a Ligue 1 encounter at the Stade de Montpied on Wednesday. Both sides were involved in friendlies last week, with the hosts losing 1-0 to Sochaux, while Lille thrashed Napoli 4-1. Clermont are currently occupying 10th spot in the French top flight standings, having collected 19 points from 15 games, while the visitors are sitting three places above them, with 26 points to their name. The home side’s last league-game , before the World cup break, ended in a  2-1 defeat away to Lens, while the visitors secured a narrow 1-0 win over Angers.

CF63 are winless in five successive Ligue 1 games. Meanwhile, three of their five league wins this term have come at home turf. Their last Ligue 1 win came against Auxerre (2-1) on October 9, courtesy of second-half strikes from Said Eddine Khaoui and Grejohn Kyei. Heading into this fixture, Pascal Gastien’s side have conceded in eight successive domestic fixtures, scoring just a single goal in all but two of those games. Lille, on the other hand, have lost three of their last four league fixtures away from home. During the World Cup break, Paulo Fonseca’s side won four of their five friendlies. Lille edged past Angers in their last competitive game, in November, courtesy of Tiago Djalo’s 36th-minute strike.

Probable Lineups 

Komnen Andric, who is Clermont’s top goal-scorer this season, is likely to join Rashani and Kyei in the front-three. Meanwhile, midfielder Mehdi Zeffane is sidelined with a calf strain and Neto Borges is out until early January because of knee issue. As for Lille, Jonathan David, who has nine scalps to his name, is expected to lead the line, with Weah, Cabella and Bamba in support.
