Chennaiyin FC retain right-back Reagan Singh till 2023

Indian Super League (ISL) franchise Chennaiyin FC have announced that right-back Reagan Singh has signed a new contract with the club. This new agreement will keep him with the two-time ISL champions till 2023. The agreement will be of great happiness to the CFC fans considering his tough and resilient presence on the right-wing. The 30-year-old has developed into a fan-favourite having joined the Chennai-based franchise from NorthEast United ahead of the 2020-21 season in Goa.

“First of all I would like to thank the Chennaiyin family for believing in me. I feel proud to be part of one of the most successful teams in the country. I believe I contributed well and improved as a player in my first season. My ambition now is to help the club lift their third ISL trophy, and the first of my career. I will work hard and keep improving, and I would also like to thank all our supporters for their unconditional support,” said an excited Reagan after signing a new deal with the club.

CFC co-owner Vita Dani stated that the contract extension was a reward for the player’s consistent performances

“Reagan represents the strength and toughness in our squad. Having joined us with a wealth of ISL experience already, he improved our defensive ranks last season, while also proving to be a threat in the offensive areas. A solid team player, we are absolutely delighted to extend Reagan’s stay with CFC. This is a reward for his consistent positive performances, and long may they continue. Also, being a senior player, Reagan is yet another leader of our troops,” she said.

Reagan joins youngster Rahim Ali and Tamil Nadu fan-favourite Edwin Vanspaul, in the list of players to have extended their stay with the Chennai-based franchise recently.

“I am really excited to continue my journey and learning with Chennaiyin FC. I feel really good, having extended my stay at the club. I am looking forward to getting back on the pitch in CFC colours. The last season in Goa was one of immense experience and exposure. I am really grateful for the opportunities I have received; that I got a chance to prove myself,” said Rahim after signing the contract extension.

Reagan hails from Manipur and began his professional career at Royal Wahingdoh in the I-League in 2012. After three years at the Shillong-based club, the 30-year-old signed for NorthEast United FC. The footballer spent five years at the club, gathering excellent experience in the ISL. Reagan is known for his composure in defence and bombing runs while going forward. The footballer emerged as a reliable campaigner for the Chennai-based franchise in the 2020-21 edition of ISL.

The 30-year-old helped Chennaiyin maintain six clean sheets in his 18 games last season. Reagan also notched one assist while coming close on multiple occasions to scoring. The footballer will be optimistic of picking up from where he left off and improve on his impressive displays from a debut season for the Marina Arena faithful.
