Chengdu Qianbao will play host to Shenzhen in a Chinese Super League fixture at Meixian Tsang Hin-Chi Stadium on Sunday. The hosts are heading into the tie on the back of a goalless draw against Meizhou Hakka on last Monday, while a day later, Shenzhen were thrashed 4-1 by Beijing Guoan. Chengdu Qianbao are languishing at the 15th spot, just above the drop zone, having made a poor start to the 2022 CSL season, securing three draws and two defeats from their opening five games, while the visitors have won three and lost two so far to sit at the seventh position.
Chengdu Qianbao are one of the three sides yet to taste victory in this edition of CSL. This poor start to the season has been because of lack of quality up front for the newly promoted side. Seo Jun-won’s men started their campaign with two back-to-back defeats against Shenzhen FC and Beijing Guoan before registering three successive draws. Although Chengdu Qianbao have been struggling to score goals their defenders have done a pretty good job, conceding just once in their last three outings.
Shenzhen on the other hand, suffered a humiliating defeat at Beijing Guoan. In a one-sided affair, goals from Dabao Yu, Ziming Wang and a brace from Yuning Zhang saw the Youth Army succumb to their second defeat of the season, first one was against Meizhou Hakka on June 13. With nine points from five games, the Youth Army sit seventh, level on points with Changchun Yatai and Wuhan.
Chengdu Qianbao will miss the services of Guanghui Han, who is nursing an arm injury. Midfielder Hu Mingtain is also doubtful for the Sunday fixture, after suffering an injury in his previous outing. Therefore Brazilian Romulu could be deployed alongside Tim Chow in the middle of the park. As for Shenzhen, Ghanian Frank Acheampong should lead the attack with veteran Lin Goa and 22-year-old Huang Ruifeng in support.
Chengdu Qianbao probable starting lineup: Geng; Liu, Windbichler, R Hu; R Gan, M Hu, Chao, Chow, H Hu; Baixu, Min-woo.
Shenzhen probable starting lineup: Z Lu; H Xu, Shinar, Chai-Min, Yuan; Zhipeng, L Yue, Yongpo, Yuanyi, Lin; Acheampong
