In a major boost to Chelsea, Brazilian defender Thiago Silva has issued a fitness update ahead of their Premier League match against West Bromwich Albion at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. In a social media post, Silva has expressed his delight in returning to training. After being sidelined with a thigh injury since February first week, the former PSG centre-back will be eager to get regular game time under his belt. With Premier League returning after an international break, Silva is set to play a crucial role in Chelsea’s remaining matches.

After moving to London from Paris last summer, Silva has become a regular fixture for Chelsea. The 36-year-old also netted two Premier League goals before the injury setback. The Brazilian has been working on his recovery at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground since then. He finally looks to be closing in on full fitness again.

Taking to his personal Instagram account, Thiago Silva posted a picture of himself in training at Cobham. The caption of the post read, “Happy to be back doing what I love!! May God bless our new beginnings.”

Chelsea are enjoying a mini-renaissance under Thomas Tuchel. After struggling for identity under previous manager Frank Lampard, the Blues have found their feet. Playing quality football, Chelsea are looking menacing again. Sitting fourth in the Premier League table, the Blues will be eager to end the season on a high as the Premier League returns following an international break.
