On the back of an injury-plagued campaign, the United States midfielder has hit the top form at the right time

Christian Pulisic has been one of the stars of Chelsea’s campaign last time around when they finished fourth in the Premier League. The attacking midfielder, who was a crucial part of Frank Lampard’s set-up, had struggled to replicate the same form this season. Plagued by injuries, the American player endured a roller-coaster campaign. Lately though Pulisic seems to have found his mark, becoming more influential in games.
In the Champions League knock-out stages he has been highly effective as Chelsea reached the semifinals at the expense of Porto. His recent impressive performances have made him a regular under Thomas Tuchel. He now has three goals in his last two Premier League matches.
“I hope that I’m catching a bit of fire now. It’s just a confidence thing where you see one ball go in the net and you’re feeling good about it, then things just seem to come more naturally,” he added. “It’s been a tough year, for a lot of reasons. I’ve been doing everything I can to take care of my body and it really does hurt when I can’t be out there.”
Pulisic, who has started only 12 league games owing to injuries, believes it is the confidence that helps a player go on a streak. He said, “I think it all has to do with confidence and the way you’re feeling in the moment.”
“Streaks are definitely something that can be seen in a lot of different sports. I kind of went through one at the end of last season, I felt.
Pulisic is all geared up for the important part of the season. “I love this part of the year, when things get really important and every game can have a big influence on your standing at the end of the season,” he added.
“It’s the best time really, when everyone focuses up and the games are usually really good.”
