Cordoba has had a mixed start to their campaign, registering one win, one loss and a draw in their opening three games so far. El Ferroviario started their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Barracas Central before losing 1-0 at Boca Juniors. Meanwhile Cordoba’s only victory came against Banfield on Wednesday. At Estadio Florencio Sola, the home side took the lead inside the opening three minutes through Alejandro Cabrera before Francisco Metilli leveled the score for Cordoba in the 54th minute. The visitors created more chances than their opponents and registered six shots on target compared to just three by the hosts. However, Banfield netted the winner nine minutes from time, when Giuliano Galoppo converted the spot kick and took all three points. Sergio Rondina’s side head into Tuesday’s contest with just one win in their last eight games at home turf.
San Lorenzo, on the other hand, are yet to register a victory in the campaign so far. Ruben Dario Insua’s side began the second phase of the season with a 1-1 draw against Independiente before playing out a goalless draw against Newell’s. And then, in their previous fixture against Arsenal Sarandi, the Blue and Red were held to a thrilling 3-3 draw. Arsenal Sarandi opened the scoring through Lucas Suarez, before second-half goals from Nestor Ortigoza, Jalil Elias and Ivan Leguizamon put the hosts in a commanding position. But the visitors fought back and leveled the score courtesy of a brace by Cristian Colman and the points were shared. San Lorenzo are unbeaten in each of their last five games across all competitions.
Central Cordoba have some injury problems as goalkeeper Andres Mehring and striker Agustin Gallo are nursing ACL injuries. Meanwhile Paraguayan international Jose Leguizamon is also sidelined with a knee problem. Matias Laba is out with a hip injury. As for San Lorenzo, central defender Cristian Zapata is out with a muscle problem. Gino Peruzzi is still recovering from a knee injury.Â
