Last Tuesday at Elite Football Performance Centre, Brentford got the better of the Seagulls courtesy of Ivan Toney’s lone strike in the 78th minute. It was the Bees’ second win of the summer, the previous one coming against Boreham Wood (2-0) in their first friendly of the summer. Prior to the Brighton win, Thomas Frank’s side were thrashed 4-0 at Wolfsburg. After the game against Betis, Brentford would begin their new Premier League season away to Leicester City on August 7.
Betis, on the other hand, began their pre-season with a goalless draw against SV Grodig before losing 2-1 at PSV Eindhoven and then shared the spoils in the last outing against the French outfit. Last Thursday, at Proact stadium, Rodri Sanchez canceled out Arkadiusiz Milik’s opener to earn a draw. After Saturday’s game, Manuel Pellegrini’s side would play two more friendlies against Real Zaragoza and Fiorentina before beginning their 2022-23 La Liga season at home against Elche on August 15.
Brentford boss Frank is likely to name a strong starting eleven as this will be their final friendly before getting into competitive action next week. Thomas Strakosha, who joined the club from Lazio this ummer, could occupy the goal, while another new arrival Aaron Hickey is likely to feature at the full-back position on Saturday. Ben Mee, who joined the club from Burnley, is expected to partner Kristoffer Sjer at the heart of the defence. As for Real Betis, Frenchman Fekir is likely to be deployed behind the striker Iglesias, while Henrique and Juanmi could occupy the flanks. Rodriguez and Canales are likely to pull the strings from the midfield.
