Brentford play host to Bournemouth in an English Premier League fixture at Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday evening. Both sides are heading into the match on the back of FA Cup defeats in the mid-week. The hosts suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to West Ham United and got eliminated from the Cup competition in the third round last weekend, while Bournemouth were beaten 4-2 by Championship side Burnley on the same day. Meanwhile, in the English top tier standings, Brentford are occupying ninth spot, having collected 26 points from 18 games, while the Cherries are languishing at the 16th position, with just 16 points to their name, only one clear of the relegation zone. Â

Brentford, who had resumed competitive action following the World Cup break, with a thrilling 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Boxing Day, went on to register back-to-back wins against West Ham (2-0) and Liverpool (3-1) in the following fixtures, before being dumped out of the FA Cup by the Hammers. The Bees managed to secure a surprise victory over Liverpool in their last league-outing on January 2, courtesy of Ibrahima Konate’s own goal and strikes from Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo. It was Thomas Frank’s side’s sixth league-win of the season. However, they couldn’t carry the momentum into the Cup fixture as West Ham managed to successfully get the revenge through Said Benrahma’s lone strike, eleven minutes from time.Â
Bournemouth, on the other hand, lost out to English second tier side Burnley in their FA Cup third round game last Saturday, despite the fact that Ryan Christie and Dominic Solanke got on the scoresheet. The result meant that the Cherries’ cup commitments are over for another year. Meanwhile, it was Bournemouth’s fifth consecutive loss across all competitions. The Cherries’ last league-win came on November 12, when they thrashed Everton 3-0, courtesy of goals from Marcus Tavernier, Kieffer Moore and Jaidon Anthony.
Brentford possible line-up: Raya, Zanka, Mee, Pinnock, Roerslev, Norgaard, Janelt, Jensen, Henry, Mbeumo, Wissa
Bournemouth possible line-up: Travers, Stacey, Mepham, Senesi, Kelly, Christie, Cook, Lerma, Billing, Moore, Solanke
