Bournemouth finished second in the Championship last term to earn promotion to the top tier of English football and the Cherries play three more friendlies before taking on Aston Villa in their Premier League opener.
Bournemouth will play Sheffield Wednesday in a pre-season friendly at Dean court on Friday. The Cherries will be hoping to begin their preparations for the upcoming Premier League season on a positive note, while the visitors will be playing their third friendly of the campaign. Wednesday began their pre-season with a goalless draw at Alfreton Town before defeating Harrogate Town 2-0 in their previous outing last Friday. Darren Moore’s side finished fourth in the 2021-22 Football League One table last season. They will play two more friendlies after this one, facing Rayo Vallecano and Wigan Athletic before beginning their 2022-23 League One campaign against Portsmouth on July 30.

Bournemouth, on the other hand finished second in the Championship last term to earn promotion to the top tier of English football. Scott Parker’s side will also play Braga, Bristol city and Real Sociedad before their Premier League opener against Aston Villa on August 6. The Cherries last played in the Premier League in 2019-20, finishing 18th to drop into the Championship, where they spent the last two campaigns.
Bournemouth’s new signings Joe Rothwell and Ryan Fredericks are expected to get a place in the starting eleven on Friday in order to gel with the team and build fitness. Meanwhile Joanas Lossl, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Brentford from Midtjylland is training with the club. Dominic Solanke, who scored 29 Championship goals last term, is expected to lead the attack with Marcondes operating behind him. As for Sheffield Wednesday, Barry Bennan could pull the strings from the midfield with Lee Gregory and Sylla Sow playing up front. New arrivals Akin Famewo and Will Vaulks are likely to get a place in the starting eleven.
