Bournemouth will host Championship leaders Burnley in a FA cup third round fixture at Vitality Stadium on Saturday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a disappointing 3-0 Premier League defeat to Manchester United on Wednesday, while Burnley got the better of Swansea City in the English second tier, two days earlier. The victory helped Vincent Kompany’s side to move to 56 points from 26 games and extend their lead at the summit of the standings to five points. The Cherries, on the other hand, are languishing at the 16th position in the English top flight standings, with just 16 points to their name from 18 games, only one clear of the relegation zone.Â

Bournemouth are going through a tough patch, having lost each of their last three league-games. Last time out, the Cherries conceded three times at Old Trafford, through Casemito, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford. Gary O’Neil’s side have failed to score in any of their last four matches across all competitions. Important games against Brentford and Nottingham Forest are next in the league. Meanwhile, their last win came against Everton (3-0) on November 12, courtesy of goals from Marcus Tavernier, Kieffer Moore and Jaidon Anthony.Â
Burnley, on the other hand, are in stunning form, having lost just three times in all competitions this season. The Clarets have won their last six league-games, the last two victories coming at Stoke City and Swansea respectively. Ian Maatsen’s first half brace helped Kompany’s side take all three points against the Swans at the Liberty Stadium. With 20 more second tier games to go this season, Kompany might opt to rotate his squad on Saturday inorder to freshen up things.Â
Kieffer Moore is expected to lead the line for Bournemouth, with Dembele and Anthony in support. Travers could occupy the goal, with Stacey, Mepham, Stephens and Kelly forming the four-man defence in front of him. As for Burnley, Barnes might spearhead the attack, with Zaroury and Manuel occupying the flanks. Bastein and Cullen might sit in front of the back-four, with Brownhill operating behind the striker.Â
Bournemouth possible line-up: Travers, Stacey, Mepham, Stephens, kelly, Billing, Lerma, Rothwell, Dembele, Moore, Anthony
Burnley possible line-up: Peacock-Farrell, Roberts, Harwood-Bellis, Taylor, Maatsen, Bastien, Cullen, Manuel, Brownhill, Zaroury, Barnes
