Bournemouth began their pre-season with a 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday last Friday before losing to Braga with a similar scoreline four days later. Dominic Solanke put the Premier League outfit ahead before goals A. Castro and R. Gomes helped Braga secure the win. Scott Parker’s side will also take on Real Sociedad next Saturday before beginning their 2022-23 Premier League campaign at home against Aston Villa on august 6. Bournemouth last played in the Premier League in 2019-20, finishing 18th to drop into the Championship, where they spent the last two campaigns.
Bristol City, on the other hand, are unbeaten in their pre-season so far, having recorded three wins and two draws from their five outings. Nigel Pearson’s side played two teams, Forest Green and Exeter City, at the same time last Tuesday. The Latter held the robins to a 2-2 draw while the other half of Bristol City got the better of Forest Green. After the Bournemouth game, the Robins will begin their new Championship season away to Hull City on July 30.
Bournemouth boss Parker could try to stabilize his starting eleven as he had rotated his squad heavily in the first two games to build the fitness of the team. Defender Lloyed Kelly was absent for the defeat to Braga and is doubtful for Saturday’s game. James Hill is expected to partner Chris Mepham in the heart of the defence. David Brooks is still recovering from cancer. As for Bristol City, Weimann and Martin are likely to start up front with Wilson and Dasilva occupying the flanks. Sykes could pull the strings from the midfield.
Bournemouth probable starting lineup: Travers; Smith, Mepham, Hill, Zemura; Billing, Cook, Rothwell; Lowe, Solanke. Anthony
Bristol City probable starting lineup: Bentley; Naismith, Atkinson, Veyner; Wilson, King, James, Dasilva; Sykes; Martin, Weimann
