Valencia will begin their pre-season with a friendly against Borussia Dortmund at CASHPOINT Arena on Monday. The German outfit will be participating in their third friendly of the summer. Dortmund would be heading into the match on the back of a 5-0 win against Verl last Thursday. Valencia didn’t have a great La Liga season last term, finishing ninth in the standings and missed out on the European qualification by 11 points. BVB finished second in the 2021-22 Bundesliga table, accumulating 69 points from 34 games, eight points behind title-winners Bayern Munich.

BVB began their pre-season with a 3-1 win over Luner on July 5 before defeating Dynamo 2-0 four days later and then put five goals past Verl without reply last Thursday. The German outfit will also take on Villarreal next Friday before facing 1860 Munich in the DFB-Pokal first round. Edin Terzic’s side will play one more friendly against Antalyaspor before beginning their new Bundesliga campaign against Bayern Leverkusen on August 6,. Valencia on the other hand, after the Dortmund game will take on St Gallen, VFB Stuttgart, Nottingham Forest and Atlanta before their La Liga opener at home against Girona on August 14.
Dortmund boss Terzic is likely to start with two different XIs for each half of this contest in order to build the fitness of the team and give enough game-time to the players. New arrivals Adeyemi and Haller should feature in the attacking department along with Malen. As for Valencia, head coach Gennaro Gattuso has selected a 28-man squad for the fixtures in Switzerland. Soler, Racic and Musah are expected to form the midfield-trio.
