Borussia Dortmund will host RB Leipzig in a Bundesliga fixture at Signal Iduna Park on Friday night. The reverse fixture this season was back in September, and the match ended 3-0 in favour of Leipzig, courtesy of goals from Willi Orban, Dominik Szoboszlai and Amadou Haidara. But since that defeat, BVB have come a long way as they are currently occupying second spot in the German top flight standings, having collected 46 points from 22 games, level on points with leaders Bayern Munich but separated by goal-difference. The visitors, meanwhile, are sitting two places behind BVB at the fourth position, separated by four points.
🎙 Edin Terzic:
“In the first leg, Leipzig was very aggressive and created a lot of danger with their fast people. But since then we have often done better, for example in Leverkusen. We want to take the intensity, toughness and also the goal threat of these last weeks with us.” pic.twitter.com/O5t7v9r2GI

Dortmund are in stunning form, having won each of their last nine games in all competition this year. BVB secured a narrow 1-0 win over Hoffenheim in their previous outing on Saturday, thanks to Julian Brandt’s 43rd-minute effort. It was Edin Terzic’s side’s 15th league-win of the season, which is more than any other team in the German top flight this campaign. Dortmund’s defence has been water-tight in the last eight outings, conceding only four times, while scoring an impressive 17 goals during that period. BVB will travel to London to take on Chelsea in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday, as they attempt to hold onto their 1-0 lead and book their place in the last eight of Europe’s elite club competition.
RB Leipzig, on the other hand, defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 in their last match on the weekend, courtesy of first-half efforts from Timo Werner and Emil Forsberg. Although Frankfurt pulled one back through Djibril Sow’s 61st-minute strike, the Red Bulls held on to the slender lead and secured their 12 league-win of the season. Victory moved Marco Rose’s side back into the Champions League qualification places, but fifth-placed Freiburg are lurking behind them, separated by just a solitary point. Leipzig played out a 1-1 draw against Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League tie last month and will be traveling to the Etihad stadium next week for the away leg.
Although Dortmund have a slight advantage in the head-to-head, having triumphed seven times in 14 encounters against Leipzig, the Red Bulls have won the last three clashes. Last season , Leipzig secured a double against BVB, with a 6-2 aggregate win. Leipzig will be aiming to do the double once again, but Dortmund are in stunning form and it won’t be an easy task at Signal Iduna Park on Friday.
