Bolton should be heading into the match high on confidence, having earned a point against league-leaders Plymouth last weekend. Ian Evatt’s side have now kept five clean sheets in their last six outings. Having last won the EFL Trophy back in the 1988-89 season, the Trotters will be desperate to go all the way to Wembley. Portsmouth, on the other hand, won the trophy as early as 2019. Nevertheless, Pompey are going through a tough patch, having not tasted victory in their last five games across all competitions. Last time out, Harry Kane’s lone goal was enough to eliminate Portsmouth at the third round of the FA Cup. Prior to that, Pompey lost 3-1 to Charlton in a league-fixture.
Bakayoko might lead the line for Bolton, with Sheehan and Kachunga in support. Morley and Dempsey might pull the strings in the midfield, with Bradley and Beck occupying the flanks. As for Portsmouth, Curtis and Pigott might form the attacking-duo, with Tuccicliffe, Thompson and Morrel running the engine room.
Bolton Wanderers possible line-up: Dixon, Toal, Aimson, Johnston, Bradley, Morley, Dempsey, Beck, Sheehan, Bakayoko, Kachunga
Portsmouth possible line-up: Oluwayemi, Swanson, Morrison, Raggett, Ogilvie, Hume, Tunnicliffe, Thompson, Morrell, Curtis, Pigott
