Last year, Tigre won the Primera Nacional title in the final match, thereby securing a ticket to the top division of the Argentine football league system.
Boca Juniors will be keen to bounce back from their defeat against Central Cordoba when they take on Tigre in the Argentine Primera Division. The hosts suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Cordoba in the last match, which has pushed them down significantly in the table. However, it is early in the season, hence, it is not time to panic for Boca Juniors’ players or fans. Meanwhile, Tigre head into this clash on the back of a positive start to the new campaign. They have managed a win and a draw in the opening two fixtures which has them currently at the 6th spot.
This is not how Boca Juniors would have imagined starting the second phase in the Argentine Primeira Division. They started with a narrow 2-1 victory over Arsenal Sarandi before suffering a shocking 1-0 defeat to Central Cordoba. These two results mean Boca Juniors are currently placed at the 14th spot in the standings. This is not where they would have imagined being at the start of the campaign, hence a good result in the next match is a must for them.
Meanwhile, Tigre will be happy with the start they have made to the new campaign. Last year, they won the Primera Nacional title in the final match, thereby securing a ticket to the top division of the Argentine football league system. Keeping that in mind, they will be happy to be occupying the sixth spot in the standings as of now. Tigre started with a 2-1 win over Union before settling for a draw against Barracas Central. They will take a lot of confidence from the previous two results but will have a massive task at hand to get something out of the match against Boca Juniors.
Both teams do not have too many injuries or suspension concerns ahead of this clash. Still, there might be some changes made to the Starting XI of Boca Juniors to overcome the mediocre start they made to the second phase in the Argentine Primera Division. Sebastian Villa could battle it out with Nicolas Orsini to take up the right spot. Aaron Molinas and Cristian Medina could also make it into the playing eleven. Meanwhile, Tigre will have to play without centre-back Abel Luciatti after he was sent off against Barracas Central. It will be interesting to see who will replace him in the squad.
Boca Juniors possible lineup: Rossi, Weigandt, Rojo, Izquierdoz, Fabra, Villa, Varela, Fernandez, Molinas, Zeballos, Benedetto
Tigre possible lineup: Marinelli, Blondel, Cabrera, Demartini, Prieto, Obando, Prediger, Menossi, Protti, Retegui, Colido
