Blackpool will host Nottingham Forest in an FA Cup third round fixture at Bloomfield Road on Saturday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw against Sunderland in a Championship game on Sunday, while Forest secured a narrow Premier League win over Southampton, three days later. The victory helped the visitors to move to 15th spot in the English top tier standings, having collected 17 points from 18 games. The Seasiders, meanwhile, are languishing at the 22nd position in the English second tier standings, with just 26 points to their name from as many matches.

Blackpool are without a win in their last nine league games, although positives will be taken from four of the last five fixtures ending in draws. Their only defeat that time came against second-placed Sheffield United. Last time out, Michael Appleton’s side earned a point against Sunderland, courtesy of Shayne Lavery’s 22nd-minute strike.
Forest, on the other hand, got the better of Southampton on Wednesday night courtesy of Taiwo Awonyi’s lone goal inside the opening 27 minutes. Steve Cooper’s side have been going through a decent run of form, having lost just three of their last 10 outings, two of which were away to Arsenal and Manchester United. Meanwhile, Forest have also reached the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup. Cooper’s side will be favourites to get through on Saturday, as they are unbeaten in their last five encounters with the Tangerines. Their latest clash with the Seasiders ended in a 4-1 win as recently as April.
