Blackpool will host Bristol City in an EFL Championship fixture at Bloomfield Road on Saturday evening. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a thrilling 3-3 draw at Burnley in a Championship match last weekend. Bristol City, meanwhile, defeated Wycombe 3-1 in the EFL Cup second round fixture last Thursday. Blackpool are currently sitting 11th in the championship standings with seven points from five games, while the visitors are placed four places above them with the same number of points but with a superior goal difference.

Blackpool has managed to record just two wins from their opening five games, while two of them ended in defeats. The Seasiders’ only draw of the campaign came last Saturday against Burnley. Goals from Josh Brownhill and Nathan Tella gave the Clarets a two goal lead, and although Theo Corbeanu pulled a goal back for Blackpool, Tella netted once again before the break. Meanwhile in the final 20 minutes of the game, Michael Appleton’s side scored twice through Shayne Lavery and Jerry Yates to share the spoils and avoided a third consecutive defeat.

Prior to that, Nigel Pearson’s side defeated Cardiff City 2-0 on August 21. Tommy Conway gave the lead to Bristol City, five minutes from break. And then Robert Atkinson doubled the lead in the 64th minute. It was the Robins’ second league win of the season, the first one was against Luton (2-0) on August 16.
