West Brom on the other hand, edged past Sheffield United courtesy of Karlan Grant’s lone strike to enter the second round of the EFL-cup competition. Prior to that, the Baggies had played out two 1-1 draws against Middlesbrough and Watford. Against the Hornets, Ismaila Sarr’ sopener was canceled out by Grant’s equaliser to share the spoils. Steve Bruce’s side would be looking to take confidence from their victory against Sheffield United in the cup fixture.
Blackburn’s attacking unit consisting of Gallagher, Diaz, Dack and Szmodics are in stunning form and should start once again. Travis and Buckley are expected to pull the strings in the midfield. As for West Brom, in-form goal-scorer Grant should lead the line with Diangana, Swift and Wallace in support.
Blackburn Rovers probable starting lineup: Kaminski; Brittain, Ayala, Wharton, Pickering; Travis, Buckley; Szmodics, Dack, Brereton Diaz; Gallagher
West Bromwich Albion probable starting lineup: Button; Furlong, Ajayi, O’Shea, Townsend; Yokuslu, Molumby; Wallace, Swift, Diangana; Grant
