Blackburn Rovers will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to eight games across all competition when they host Blackpool in an EFL Championship fixture at Ewood Park on Tuesday night. Both sides are heading into the match on the back of similar wins in their last outings. The hosts got the better of Swansea City 1-0 last Saturday, while Blackpool defeated Stoke City with an identical scoreline, on the same day. As of now, the Rovers are occupying eighth spot in the English second tier standings, having collected 49 points from 32 games, level on points with sixth-placed Sunderland. The visitors, meanwhile, are languishing at the 23rd position, with just 31 points to their name, just two adrift of the safe zone.

After three straight draws against Wigan Athletic, Watford and West Bromwich Albion to begin February, Blackburn edged past Swansea in their last outing. The Rovers had to dig deep to get the better of the Swans, thanks to Daniel Ayala’s 89th-minute effort which made the difference. It was their 15th league-win of the season. The Riversiders have made the Ewood Park a fortress this season, having won 10 of their 15 league-games in front of home fans, with only league-leaders Burnley achieving more wins on home turf. The Rovers are within touching distance of the playoff spot and a couple of victories will definitely push them back onto the top-six.
Blackpool, on the other hand, are fighting for survival. After going through a winless streak of six games, the Seasiders finally earned three points at Bloomfield last weekend, courtesy of Ian Poveda’s lone goal inside the opening seven minutes. It was their lone effort on goal in the entire match, while Stoke tried their best to get the equalsier, recording 25 attempts on goal, with six of them on target, but the Blackpool defence managed to hold on to the slender lead and secured their seventh league-win of the season. The Tangerines have lost each of their last four away matches in all competitions and are without a win on their travels since the trip to Coventry City in late October.
