Birmingham got the better of Stoke City last Saturday courtesy of goals from Scott Hogan and Harlee Dean. It was the Blues’ seventh league-win of the season. John Eustace’s side have been in pretty good form off late, having recorded four wins from their last seven outings. Since September, the Blues are the fourth-best performing side in the English second tier, having collected 22 points from 12 matches and conceding only eight goals. Their only two setbacks came away to Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers by one-goal margins. Birmingham are now just four points adrift of the playoffs.
As for Swansea, they came from behind to earn a point against Wigan last week. After early strikes from Will Keane and Tom Naylor put the Latics 2-0 ahead, the Swans managed to pull one back through Ryan Manning on the stroke of half time. And then, six minutes from time, Joel Piroe converted from the penalty spot to level the score. The result extended the Welsh team’s winless streak to three games. However, Russell Martin’s side are just two points adrift of the playoffs.
