Birmingham City will host Bristol City in an EFL Championship fixture at St Andrew’s on Saturday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 defeat to Middlesbrough on Wednesday, while Bristol City played out a goalless draw against Coventry, a day earlier. Birmingham are languishing at the 19th position in the standings, having collected just 13 points from their opening 12 games. The visitors, meanwhile, have pocketed two points more than the Blues to be sitting at the 14th spot in the table.

In the mid-week fixture against Middlesbrough, Chuba Akpom’s lone goal in the 23rd-minute handed Birmingham their fifth league defeat of the campaign. The Blues are winless in their last three games, since getting the better of West Bromwich Albion 3-2 on September 15. Scott Horgan’s hat-trick helped the blues secure all three points against West Brom. John Eustace’s side have struggled in front of goal, having scored just nine league goals this season, an attacking record that is better than only two other teams.

Bristol City, on the other hand, have lost three of their last four games. The Robins’ last victory came against Blackburn Rovers (3-2), early in September courtesy of  Tommy Conway’s opener and Nahki Wells’ brace. After that, Bristol City lost three consecutive games against Norwich City (3-2), Burnley (2-1) and Queens Park Rangers (2-1), before sharing the spoils against Coventry in the mid-week.
