Last Thursday, at Estadio Defensores del Chaco, Olimpia netted twice through Derlis Gonzalez and Alejandro Silva Gonzalez to push Atletico-Go on to the back foot in the Copa Sudamericana round of 16 tie. Meanwhile in the domestic league campaign, Jorginho’s side has won three of their last five games and their recent league match at Ceara ended in a 1-1 draw. The Dragons are just two points above the relegation zone, but only four shy of the top-six.
Sao Paulo, on the other hand, were involved in a dramatic six-goal thriller at Universidad Catolica. Rogerio Ceni’s side raced into a three-goal lead, courtesy of strikes from Reinaldo De Silva’s opener and Luciano Neves’ brace, during the first leg of their last-16 tie at Estadio San Carlos de Apoquindo. And then, after the break, Jonathan Calleri netted Sao Paulo’s fourth of the night. Prior to that, the Trocolor Paulista were held to a goalless draw by Juventude in their league fixture.
