Atletico Goianiense will host Goias in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil round-of-16 tie on Wednesday. Both teams won their last round in a penalty shootout to reach this stage. Their form domestically has also been a bit patchy till now, however, the hosts have somehow found their feet in recent games. The visitors, on the other hand, have been struggling with form lately. In the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A table, Atletico Goianiense are 12th, having managed 16 points from 13 games, while Goias are in the relegation spot of 17th, with 14 points from the same number of matches.

On the other hand, Goias also had to go the distance in the last round before prevailing over Bragantino. The two-legged tie ended with an aggregate score of 2-2 before Goias won the clash by surviving a thrilling penalty shootout 9-8. However, the recent domestic form has not been good for the visitors, as they are winless in their last four games. Hence, Goias have to be at the top of their game on Wednesday to get something from the opening leg.
Atletico Goianiense won their last game against Juventude in a comfortable 3-1 fashion at the weekend. On the back of the positive result, most of the players might very well start in the upcoming fixture too. Injuries could prevent Shaylon and Wanderson from participating in this fixture. Otherwise, they are expected to have more or less a full squad. The visitors will also have to deal with a few injury concerns. Sidimar, Hugo, Luiz Filipe and Matheusinho will not be a part of this clash.

The Copa do Brasil encounter between Atletico Goianiense and Goias will take place at Atlético Clube Goianiense – Stadium Antônio Accioly and it will kickoff at 3:30 am IST on June 23, Thursday.
The Copa do Brasil started on the 22nd of February and will continue till the 19th of October and it will see 92 teams participating in it. The matches are reportedly shown on Rede Globo, SporTV, Premiere and Amazon Prime Video.
