Alisson Becker is usually known for his good reflexes and excellent shot-stopping abilities. He is often praised for his spectacular saves, efficient goalkeeping, athleticism, composure, intelligence, and ball-playing technique. Alisson first started his club career with Internacional’s academy in 2002. There he progressed with the youth team before completing a transfer to Roma in 2016. After spending three seasons with the Italian side, he joined Liverpool in the year 2018, and ever since he has had an exceptional career playing for the Reds. For Brazil, he has represented it on several occasions such as the Copa América Centenario in 2016, the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and the 2019 and 2021 Copa América.

Career Achievements

While playing for the Brazilian club, Alisson Becker went on to win the Campeonato Gaúcho in each of his four seasons. In his first season with Jurgen Klopp’s side, he received the Premier League Golden Glove for most clean sheets in the league. Similarly, he kept a clean sheet during Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League Final victory in 2019. The Brazilian then went on to play an integral role in the club’s success like the final of the FIFA Club World Cup, and the 2019-20 Premier League title.

Thibaut Courtois is one of the finest goalkeepers in the world at the moment. Regardless of his stats, he has propelled and cemented himself as one of the best. Due to his versatile style of play and consistency, he is often described as a “complete goalkeeper.” His services to clubs he has been a part of are evident and worthy to hail him as one of the greatest goalkeepers. Alisson Becker on the other hand doesn’t fall short of Thibaut Courtois. Both players have impressed everyone. With their skills and abilities, they have led their respective clubs and country to various triumphs.

Manuel Neuer is Bayern Munich’s gem of a goalkeeper. His impressive skills have proved his worth for both club and country. However, if we compare the playmaking metrics of Manuel Neuer to Alisson it seems that the former has an edge over the Brazilian goalkeeper. Alisson’s performance and defensive skills are almost as good as Neuer’s abilities. It should also be known that Alisson Becker plays in a more competitive league than Neuer. However, the German goalkeeper is a World Cup winner in 2014 and still continues to be one of the best in the business. Alisson has the necessary skill set to reach that level one day.

Alisson and Ederson both have been pretty good at their goalkeeping skills and abilities. Both play for England’s most top-notch clubs and have risen to glory with their excellent performances. Alisson with his flawless saves has been an indispensable component of Jurgen Klopp’s squad. Meanwhile, Ederson is also worth every penny for Manchester City. Both have been exceptional, no doubt in that whatsoever. However, Alisson holds the edge when it comes to playing for Brazil, who has been their main choice till now. Although, one can’t argue when determining between the two talented goalkeepers.

Alisson Becker vs David de Gea

David de Gea has been Manchester United’s current longest-serving player. David de Gea to has been a fantastic resource for the Red Devils. United’s plight and current form have been underwhelming for the team but not for the Spanish goalkeeper, who still continues to stand out. He has been United’s best player on many occasions in the last decade, showing how much the club has relied on him. Alisson is a better ball player than the Spaniard, but when it comes to shot-stopping De Gea is better than him. Recent trophies might favour the Brazilian but the Spaniard’s longevity and consistency cannot be undermined.
