AC Milan will kick off their Serie A title defence against Udinese at San Siro on Saturday. The hosts had won their first Scudetto in over a decade last May and would be hoping to start the new campaign on a positive note against the Little Zebras. Milan are heading into the match on the back of a dominant 6-1 victory over Vicenza in their final pre-season friendly of the summer last weekend. Udinese, on the other hand, got the better of FeralpiSalo 2-1 in their Coppa Italia first round fixture on Friday. The White and Blacks had finished 12th in the Serie A standings last term and would be hoping to challenge for a top half finish this time around.

Milan had an impressive pre-season, recording three wins and one loss in four friendlies. In their recent outing against Vicenze, Stefano Pioli’s side netted six times courtesy of a brace from Ante Rebic and one goal each from Rafael Leao, Junior Messias and Fikayo Tomori, while Nicola Dalmonte netted an own goal. Milan have not been very active in the transfer market, making only two notable first team signings in the form of Divock Origi from Liverpool and attacking midfielder Charles De Ketelaere. Meanwhile defensive midfielder Franck Kessie has departed the club to join Barcelona on a free transfer.
Udinese, on the other hand, didn’t have a great pre-season registering two wins and three defeats. However, the Little Zebras kicked off their competitive action for the new campaign on a positive note by defeating lower division side FeralpiSalo and going through to the next round of the domestic Cup competition. Gerard Deulofeu and Isaac Success netted for Udinese to secure the victory at Friuli.

New recruits Jaka Bijol and Adam Masina are likely to feature at San Siro.
