AC Milan and Torino are set to go head-to-head for the second time in the space of less than a month, when they meet at San Siro in a Serie A fixture on Friday night. The previous meeting between these two clubs ended 1-0 in favour of Torino in the Coppa Italia last-16. Midfielder Michel Adopo’s 114th-minute effort separated the two sides and helped the Maroons progress to the quarter-finals of the competition. Meanwhile both teams are heading into the match on the back of contrasting results in their last outings, with the hosts losing 1-0 to Inter Milan on Sunday, while Torino got the better of Udinese, with an identical scoreline, on the same day.

Milan have lost their last four games across all competition and they are winless since defeating Salernitana 2-1 in the top flight on January 4. Last time out, Lautaro Martinez’s lone strike inside the opening 34 minutes was enough to hand a fifth league-defeat of the season to Milan. Meanwhile the Rossoneri have conceded 13 goals in their last four outings, while scoring only twice. The poor run of form has seen the reigning champions drop down to sixth spot in the Italian top flight standings, with 38 points to their name from 21 matches, just one adrift of the top-four, but 18 behind leaders Napoli.
Torino, on the other hand, are sitting one place behind the Rossoneri, having collected 30 points thus far. Toro got the better of Udinese in their last outing, through Yann Karamaoh’s second half strike. It was the Maroon’s eighth league-win of the season. Torino have collected nine points from their last six top flight matches, which has helped them reach their best ever points tally at this stage since the mid-1990’s.
Torino are aiming to claim a historic treble over Milan on Friday. The reverse fixture at Olimpico di Torino, less than four months ago, ended 2-1 in favour of Torro, courtesy of first half strikes from Koffi Djidji and Aleksei Miranchuk. Although Junior Messias pulled one back for Rossoneri, mid-way through the second half, the Maroons held on to the slender lead and secured all three points.
