1860 Munich will host Borussia Dortmund in the first round of the DF-Pokal at Grunwaldor stadium on Friday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a thumping 7-0 win over Rodelmaier in the Bavarian Cup fixture last Tuesday, while Dortmund suffered a 2-0 defeat to Villarreal in a pre-season friendly last Friday. Dortmund finished second in the Bundesliga table last term, eight points behind leaders Bayern Munich. 1860 Munich, on the other hand, finished fourth in the 2021-22 3.Liga season. 

Dortmund had a mixed pre-season winning three and losing two of their five friendlies. BVB began with three consecutive wins against Luner (3-1), Dynamo (2-0) and Verl (5-0) before losing to Valencia (3-1) and Villareal. Star striker Erling Haaland has left the club to join Manchester city in a big money move this summer, while the likes of Axel Witsel, Roman Burki and Dan-Axel Zagadou have left on free transfers. Sebastian Haller, Karim Adeyemi, Nico Schlotterbeck, Niklas Sule, Salih Ozcan, Marcel Lotka and Alexander Meyer are the new signings. 1860 Munich, on the other hand, began their new league season with a 4-3 win over Dynamo Dresden last weekend, before putting seven goals past Rodelmaier in the Bavarian Cup last thursday.

Probable Lineups

1860 Munich’s midfielders Joseph Boyamaba and Yannick Deichmann are sidelined with injuries, therefore Quirin Moll could come into the middle of the park alongside Reider, Talig and Steinhart. As for Dortmund, new striker Haller had tested for testicular cancer and is set to undergo treatment for the next couple of months. Therefore, for time being German forward Marco Reus could start as the centre-forward with Donyell Malen and Adeyemi occupying the flanks
