Managers in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) usually negotiate Gameweeks comprising of a single fixture for a particular team. However, there are also instances where teams compete in two matches during the course of a Gameweek or do not play a fixture at all, because of either domestic cup games or matches getting postponed due to COVID-19 cases. Such circumstances require a manager to adopt a proactive attitude, with regard to potential tactics that can be brought into play to negotiate the situation effectively.

Here is a look at some of the ways and means that can be used to plan for a double and blank Gameweek:

1) Utilisation Of Bench Boost

The Bench Boost chip can be an effective tool in case of a double Gameweek, enabling managers to gain points from all 15 players. Managers who have suffered a loss of points while making transfers to acquire key players, will certainly regain the points deducted if the players feature in the two matches.

2) Taking advantage of the Free Hit chip

Managers who still have their Free Hit chip intact, should consider utilising it effectively in case of a blank Gameweek. Key players set to feature in the Gameweek can be acquired and added to the lineup, resulting in more certainty over a reasonable number of points being acquired.

3) Triple Captain

Triple Captain can be extremely effective in case of the presence of quality performers, set to play two matches during the course of a Gameweek. An example of such a performer would be Harry Kane who is quite reliable with regard to points, and expected to feature in all clashes for Tottenham Hotspur. A Triple Captain move on Kane could very well lead to more points being singlehandedly accumulated, than that registered by the whole squad in a regular Gameweek.

4) Wildcard

The Wildcard can be used to add players from major teams set to play two matches. The addition of reliable performers like Mohamed Salah, Kevin De Bruyne, Bruno Fernandes, Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling in such a scenario, could well prove to be an extremely shrewd move, considering the damage they are capable of.

5) Free Transfers

Blank Gameweeks can be negotiated in an economical manner by filling the squad with players who have a fixture, in case of a limited number of players not making an appearance from the present squad. It is advisable to focus on acquiring defenders from top teams who contribute with goals and assists in such a scenario, considering the high chances of them delivering a double-digit score without causing much of a risk.
