Carlos Sainz Jr. or Carlos Sainz is a Spanish racing driver who currently drives for Scuderia Ferrari in Formula One. Carlos Sainz and Reyes Vázquez de Castro welcomed Sainz into the world on September 1, 1994 in Madrid, Spain. Carlos Sainz Sr, his father, is a two-time World Rally Champion. Antonio Sainz, his uncle, was also a rally driver. Karting was where Sainz started his career. He won the Asia-Pacific KF3 title and finished second in the Spanish Championship in 2008. He won the Junior Monaco Kart Cup and finished second in the European KF3 Championship in 2009.

In 2010, Sainz raced for the Euro International team in Formula BMW Europe. He was also a member of the Red Bull Junior Team. During a guest drive in the Formula BMW Pacific series at Sepang, he made his Formula BMW debut. He was not able to win points because he was a guest driver, but his first races in Malaysia went quite well, with him finishing second in the first race. After that strong start, he finished fourth. He retired in the first race on the following racing day, but won the second. This outstanding start earned him a spot on the Red Bull Junior Team.

Currently, Sainz is the seventh-highest paid driver in F1 and tied with Kimi Raikkonen, Lance Stroll, and Valtteri Bottas for the 7 spot on the highest-paid driver list. The Spanish driver also receives income through several sponsorships. According to reports, Sainz earns around $4 million to $7 million in sponsorships and endorsement deals each year.
