Max Verstappen and Red Bull celebrated the start of their historic 2022 season with a demonstration run in Milton Keynes, where their facility is located. Verstappen successfully defended his drivers’ title in 2022, while Red Bull won their first constructors’ title in nine years, winning 17 of the 22 races. The team staged a celebration gathering in Milton Keynes, with an estimated 30,000 people in attendance to see Verstappen and teammate Sergio Perez demonstrate the RB7. “It’s a very gratifying occasion to be able to bring both the drivers’ and constructors’ trophies home to our community of Milton Keynes after such a great season,” team principal Christian Horner said. “What better way to honour these accomplishments than with the city that has been our home since the beginning?” We would want to thank the entire Milton Keynes council and authorities for everything they have done to make today possible, but most importantly, we would like to thank the fans.”

Australian GP boss keen on fourth DRS zone

According to Andrew Westacott, the chairman of the Australian Grand Prix organisation, the event producers want a fourth DRS zone that was abandoned for the 2022 race to be operational for next season. For 2022, a fourth DRS zone was introduced between the exit of turn eight on the redesigned back straight and the fast chicane of turns nine and ten. However, the zone was removed prior to qualifying due to driver safety concerns. Westacott tells Speedcafe that the fourth DRS zone will be operational in 2023.

“There were supposed to be four DRS zones with the course alterations at Albert Park,” Westacott explained. “There was supposed to be a DRS zone around Lakeside, the fourth one about which Fernando Alonso made some safety remarks to the FIA Race Director.” “We’re optimistic, very optimistic, that we’ll get that fourth DRS zone back for 2023, which is a fantastic boost to the competitiveness and overtaking in racing.”

Michel is pleased to see F2 veterans Nissany and Boschung return

Formula 2 CEO Bruno Michel is pleased to see series veterans Roy Nissany and Ralph Boschung return to the championship in 2023. Nissany, 28, will compete in his sixth Formula 2 season with the PHM Racing by Charouz team in 2023. Boschung, 25, will race in the championship for the fourth time after debuting in Formula 2 in 2017. The return of both drivers, according to Michel, is not a concern for the series. “Drivers like Roy and Ralph are always welcome,” Michel remarked. “They left, returned, and departed again.” They adore the show. They have a lot of experience. It’s also beneficial for newcomers to the category to compare themselves to such people. “I’m not going to say ‘no, leave room for the youth.'” I believe it is beneficial to have a little bit of everything in the category, and they are included.”
