The pair were teammates at Haas during their debut F1 seasons in 2021, and their friendship was as frigid as the winter in Mazepin’s birthplace. Mazepin, who, like Schumacher, failed to earn a point in an uncompetitive vehicle previous year, was sacked from the team owing to events in Eastern Europe, and was replaced by Kevin Magnussen, who returned to Haas after a year away from F1. Despite the fact that Schumacher has the better continuity, having been with the squad since last season, he has been outpaced by the Dane, who has scored all 15 of the team’s points thus far.

Furthermore, the German has suffered high-profile accidents in Saudi Arabia, Miami, and Monaco, which have cost the team enormous repair fees and have left team principal Guenther Steiner asking “how we move forward from here,” remarks that were stated in a press statement. Nikita Mazepin has turned down the opportunity to publicly support his troubled former Haas teammate, Mick Schumacher.

‘Results speak for themselves’

Mazepin, who has shifted his immediate attention to rallying, beginning with the Silk Way Rally in July due to a lack of racing options, has been interviewed by MatchTV in his own nation. And he didn’t have much sympathy for his ex-teammate. “I would probably say the results speak for themselves. I have nothing more to add.” expressed the 23-year-old. That posture is reasonable given Mazepin’s accusation that there has been radio silence from the team in his direction since he was fired, with no one checking in to see how he is doing.

“Why hasn’t anyone contacted me? I don’t know. But if a mechanic or someone I worked closely with was fired, I would send a message on WhatsApp regardless of my attitude towards him or towards the management. It would be easier on the soul, but a fact is a fact.” exclaimed the Russian driver.

Mazepin still in hopes for a seat in F1

Nikita Mazepin is not giving up on his F1 career, despite the fact that world events have made it incredibly difficult for him to continue given his family’s history. “Miracles happen, I will be immediately behind the wheel at the first opportunity. And what could that opportunity be? “It’s difficult to say. Four months ago, I could not imagine everything would change so much. And now I cannot imagine how everything will be fine in another four months, but I hope so.” said Mazepin.
