Nico Erik Rosberg is a German-Finnish former racing driver. Nico was born on 27 June 1985 to Keke Rosberg and his German wife Sina Rosberg in Wiesbaden, West Germany. Rosberg competed in Formula One from 2006 to 2016, winning the World Drivers’ Championship in 2016 with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport. Rosberg announced his retirement five days after clinching the title, citing wanting to spend more time with his family and not wanting his driving ability to atrophy as the main factors behind his decision.

In April 2005, Rosberg was signed by Williams as its second test driver. Rosberg signed a contract that month to race for Williams in 2006 allowing the team to provide him with as much car acclimatization as possible. The following month, Rosberg signed a five-year contract with Williams, being selected by Frank Williams for his driving ability, his knowledge of F1 technology, and for articulately communicating data to engineers. At the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix, Rosberg scored his first career points with a seventh-place finish and set the race’s fastest lap, becoming at the time the youngest fastest lap setter in history, aged 20 years, 8 months and 13 days.

Rosberg signed numerous endorsement contracts, the watchmakers Rolex, International Watch Company and Oris, the tyre maker Continental Tire, the luxury fashion house Hugo Boss, the toy car company Hot Wheels, the railway company Deutsche Bahn, and the media broadcasters Sky Sports and RTL.

Nico Rosberg Salary

Rosberg’s salary for his last season with Mercedes (2016) was reported to be $16 million. At that time he was one of the highest paid racing drivers, falling short to his team mate Lewis Hamilton. However, an early contract extension until 2018 would have paid Rosberg a salary of EUR 45 million had he not resigned. Advertising deals like the Mercedes commercial for the new A-Class, Nico’s earnings increased to around 18 million euros and made a significant contribution to the gigantic fortune. At the peak of his career Nico Rosberg earned $15-20 million per year.

Nico Rosberg Assets

Nico owns, variously, a Mercedes SLS AMG, a Mercedes G 63 AMG, a Mercedes GLE, and a 1970 Mercedes 280 SL, which he often poses for pictures with. What he dreams of owning, however, is a Ferrari 250 GT California Spider SWB. It’s a bit off-brand, but now that he’s no longer a Formula One driver for Mercedes, perhaps he’s allowed to change it up a bit.
