All of which are qualities of perhaps the greatest Formula One driver in the history of the sport, Michael Schumacher. Being a legend has a lot of perks, but it’s not without its disadvantages. Schumacher began his racing career in 2008. He began his career as ‘Mick Betsch,’ adopting his mother’s maiden name. In 2014, Schumacher competed under the moniker “Mick Junior” in international and national junior championships, finishing second in the German Junior Kart Championship as well as the European and World Championships. Despite the fact that he did not race in karting under his real surname, his achievements in the sport were covered by the international press.

On January 19, 2019, Schumacher was named a driver for the Ferrari Driver Academy. He signed a multi-year contract with the Hass-Ferrari team in 2021, and became the team’s primary driver. He qualified nineteenth, ahead of teammate Mazepin, for his debut race in the 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix. The German’s Hass-Ferrari contract is worth USD 5 million per year. The agreement will expire in 2023.
