To the pleasure of his home audience, Lewis Hamilton convincingly overtook Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc to finish third despite starting fifth on the grid at the British Grand Prix last weekend. However, Horner said that Mercedes shouldn’t have forced Hamilton to stop for hard tyres on the 33rd lap; rather, he should have stopped for soft tyres, according to Horner. After Red Bull CEO Christian Horner, 48, said that the Silver Arrows made poor strategy decisions during the British Grand Prix last weekend, Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton slammed Horner with a vengeance.

The War of Words

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner stated that Ferrari’s bad choice had taken them off the hook and the Italian team struggled henceforth. However, Hamilton has responded by stating that he does not care and pay any heed to words said by Horner, as the two sides continue to engage in a verbal brawl. “I don’t really pay much attention to what is said by that guy!” Hamilton told reporters ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix.

The Medium Compounds

Hamilton started with medium tyres, and only Lando Norris lasted longer on that compound at Silverstone. “From our knowledge, from what I was told, from our experience, the tires were not going to go the distance. They were definitely quicker for the first part but there was huge degradation on the other cars that we had seen. Now, did we get it perfect? Who knows. But I think we made the right decision.” expressed Hamilton.

Hamilton’s performance on the mediums

The seven-time world champion was pleased with his performance even if he acknowledged that, in retrospect, he may have made a different choice.”No one could do the stint length that I did on the Medium. I don’t know if anyone else did that length and had that performance and pace at the end on that tyre,” he continued. The question is could I have kept going and then shortened my Soft tyre run? But in hindsight it’s always positive.”

Austrian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton’s goal in the second sprint race of the season is to significantly outperform his 14th-place showing in the season’s first sprint race in Emilia-Romagna back in April. As the season approaches halfway, he is still 88 points behind Verstappen, having had a very dismal season that is his poorest since 2013. At the Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg, the Dutchman has taken first place in three of the past four races.
