Formula One drivers with most wins at the Italian Grand Prix

The Italian Grand Prix is the fifth-oldest national Grand Prix, having been held since 1921. It became the most frequent Grand Prix in 2013.

After the French Grand Prix, the American Grand Prix, the Spanish Grand Prix, and the Russian Grand Prix, the Italian Grand Prix is the fifth-oldest national Grand Prix, having been held since 1921. It became the most frequent Grand Prix in 2013 (the 2021 edition was the 91st). Along with the British Grand Prix, it is one of only two Grands Prix that have run continuously as a part of the Formula One World Championship Grands Prix since the competition’s inception in 1950. With the exception of 1980, when it was held at Imola, every Italian Grand Prix for Formula One during the World Championship era has been held at Monza.

From 1925 to 1928, the Italian Grand Prix contributed to the World Manufacturers’ Championship, and from 1931 to 1932 and from 1935 to 1938, it contributed to the European Championship. Between 1923 and 1967, when this title was an honorary designation given each year to one Grand Prix race in Europe, it was also referred to as the European Grand Prix seven times. Before Monza, the World Championship took place in four different cities: Montichiari (1921), Livorno (1937), Milan (1947), and Turin (1947). (1948). Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher

It is no surprise that Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher have won the Italian GP more than anybody in the sport. Michael Schumacher a German former racing driver who competed in Formula One for Jordan, Benetton, Ferrari, and Mercedes. Schumacher has a joint-record seven World Drivers’ Championship titles tied with Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton and Schumacher have won the Grand Prix a total of five times in their career till now. Lewis Hamilton won the Italian GP in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018. Michael Schumacher won it in 1996, 1998, 2000, 2003, 2006. 

Nelson Piquet

Nelson Piquet Souto Maior is a Brazilian retired racing driver and businessman. Piquet was born 17 August 1952. Since his retirement, Piquet, a three-time World Champion, has been ranked among the greatest Formula One (F1) drivers in various motorsport polls. After retiring from Formula One, Piquet tried his hand at the Indianapolis 500 for two years. Piquet won the Italian GP four times which is the second most by any F1 driver. He won the Italian Grand Prix in 1980, 1983, 1986, 1987.

Alain Prost

Alain Marie Pascal Prost is a French retired racing driver and Formula One team owner. A four-time Formula One Drivers’ Champion, from 1987 until 2001 he held the record for most Grand Prix victories until Michael Schumacher surpassed Prost’s total of 51 victories at the 2001 Belgian Grand Prix. In 1999, Prost received the World Sports Award of the Century in the motor sport category. Prost managed to win the Italian Grand Prix thrice in his career in 1981, 1985, 1989. 

Other drivers who have pretty much dominated the beautiful venue are Sebastian Vettel, Rubens Barrichello, Alberto Ascari, Juan Fangio, Tazio Nuvolari, Stirling Moss and Ronnie Peterson winning it 3 times in their illustrious career.
