Ferrari new leader

Vasseur will take over a Ferrari squad that hopes to maintain its recent upward trend after Leclerc’s victory in Bahrain ended a two-and-a-half-year winless streak last season. However, 2022 was also a year of squandered opportunities as Ferrari was unable to continue its early-season dominance versus Red Bull. After the Austrian Grand Prix in July, it failed to win a race, although it was still able to hold onto second place in the constructors’ title behind Mercedes.

The Ferrari car for the following season is expected to focus on two key areas where it is believed the team fell short of Red Bull in 2022. These areas are improving top speed through increased aerodynamic efficiency and attacking tyre management and degradation, which the team suffered in the latter stages of the season as it worked harder to keep up with Red Bull. The Ferrari car will be unveiled nine days before the start of F1 preseason testing, which runs from February 23 to 25 at the Bahrain International Circuit. The season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix will occur on March 5 after that.
