According to Catalan publication El Periodico, Four-time F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel had a bag stolen through his car window which was parked outside his hotel. Vettel experienced issues with his road car earlier in the morning on Sunday, according to reports. The German driver tried tracking down his luggage which had his airpods on a scooter but couldn’t track down the bag.

The whole incident

Sebastian Vettel had parked his car outside his hotel reportedly after facing issues with the car on Sunday morning. He had left a bag inside his car which was stolen from the window. Vettel had his AirPods in his backpack, which he could track down using the Find My iPhone app. The German used a scooter to trace the GPS signal across Barcelona in an attempt to locate his baggage and apprehend the burglars. Vettel was able to locate the AirPods but not the rest of his belongings, according to the Spanish publication. Most likely, the burglars tossed away the AirPods to deceive Vettel while searching for his luggage.

Team spokesperson confirms the incident

An Aston Martin spokesperson confirmed that the incident had indeed occurred. “A bag belonging to Sebastian Vettel was stolen in Barcelona this morning. He tried to find it by using his iPhone to track his earphones which were in his bag; but when he located his earphones he found them abandoned and was therefore unable to locate his stolen bag.” the statement read. Vettel reported the incident to the local authorities, who have launched an investigation.

Lando Norris was also mugged by two guys in London in the summer of 2021 as he returned to his car after the Euro 2020 final at Wembley. Vettel, Leclerc, and Norris were all unharmed during their separate ordeals.

Vettel’s weekend has got a whole lot worse after the incident. The four-time World Champion had yet another poor weekend with Aston Martin, finishing twelfth and the team scoring no points.
