The four-time world champion finished his illustrious 15-year career with a point for Aston Martin, but he and teammate Lance Stroll were unable to stop Alfa Romeo from defeating their team on countback to place sixth in the constructors’ championship. Vettel stated he was feeling “empty” after an emotionally draining weekend after performing donuts on the grid alongside the race’s podium finishers to thunderous cheers from spectators in the main grandstand. Vettel admitted to interviewer Jenson Button, “I feel a bit empty, to be honest; it’s been a big weekend.”

“Today’s warm-up for the race was a little different, but once the lights go out, it’s full-on race mode. “We obviously didn’t pursue the right course of action, which is unfortunate because I believe we might have salvaged the constructors’ championship for ourselves. “However, altogether, it was a tremendous day and a big thank you to everyone who supported us. There were a lot of flags and happy faces, and it was a very, very memorable day. And yes, I’m sure I’ll miss more than I can currently fathom.”

Absolute joy throughout my professional life

Vettel claimed that his two years of midfield competition with Aston Martin had given him a fresh outlook. He has used his platform to advocate for a variety of social and environmental causes, and he hopes that his teammates will carry on this tradition. The past two years, he admitted, “have probably been disappointing from a sporting perspective, but very, very useful and important to me in my life.” “A lot of things happened, and I realised a lot of things. Being in our position is a great honour, but it also carries some responsibility. I wish to impart some of this knowledge to the other drivers so they can continue the good work.

It’s wonderful to see that our actions and words have the potential to move you. I believe there are much greater and more significant things than going in circles. “But clearly, it’s what we love, and if we can share some of the really crucial ideals through that, that’s huge. And I believe the past two years have been excellent for me in that regard. So, thank you for your help. I appreciate the notes, letters, and overall kindness you have shown me. It has been an amazing joy throughout my career, so thank you, but I shall miss it.
