Imagine you are completely invested in a game and suddenly, a bug pops out of nowhere and spoils the whole fun. It is the most annoying experience for any gamer right? Even developers are humans. Let’s admit it. No game is perfect and every game comes with its own set of bugs. Glitches, gremlins, bugs, whatever these are called, they are the worst nightmare for gamers.

From falling into the infinite void of floors to the main character having no head, it is a moment that just gets on your nerve. Some games just launch straight away and receive too much backlash for awkward glitches in the gameplay. Later, the developers come up with fixes and updates. However, the damage will be done already and people lose interest in that game. A recent example is Saints Row 2022 as fans claim that GTA San Andreas has far better mechanics than Saints Row. Now, let’s take a close look at the most awkward glitches in games that affect the gaming experience.

Ambush At Sea – Assassins Creed Origins

This bug is like a curse that haunts the people who took a bonus mission called “Ambush At Sea” in the Assassins Creed Origins. It is the worst glitch that Ubisoft could ever make as the fast travel will be locked, all items in your inventory will disappear, and the player will be paused in an ocean, unable to do anything.

Besides, your saved progress will be lost and you must start all over again. However, Ubisoft came up with a patch fix that worked for PC gamers but made things worse for console players.

Swing Glitch – Grand Theft Auto IV

Grand Theft Auto IV is the most dark and realistic game ever made in the franchise. Some people love GTA IV more than GTA V for its intriguing story, deep characters, and realistic physics. But, there are several bugs in the game you cannot avoid. One of them is the “Swing Glitch”.

Take a car and dash into a swingset. Boom! You are now into the faraway galaxies. The player will be pulled out of the car with heavy force and this results in the main character Niko Bellic taking severe damage or even dying. It is quite annoying when you’re on a mission as you may need to replay it again.

MissingNo. – Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow

This is the most well-known and oldest bug in gaming history. It was reported back in May 1999 over Nintendo Power. The MissingNo. bug in Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow will cause the sixth item in the player’s slot to grow by 128.

This ultimately leads to corrupt saved progress, leaving the player to start the game all over again. Although, this bug will become ineffective if the item in the player’s pack has more than 128. The Nintendo company acknowledged this as a “programming error”, not a bug.

Spinning Guards – GoldenEye 007

Gamers were quite unhappy when GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64 came out. Guards would spin out of control like a mini-tornado if you crept up on them and softly yanked on the cartridge’s left side. I’ve watched James Bond films previously, but I don’t recall something like this ever occurring. Even if it’s already funny, this is just the beginning.

The glitch was initially discovered in 2000, but it gained attention again years later as a result of a meme known as GET-DAN, or “Get Down,” which included fusing clips of the rotating guards with J-pop songs to produce humorous mash-ups. There have been hundreds of variants since the first in 2008, further solidifying this glitch’s place in online lore.

Horror Face – Assassins Creed Unity

2014 saw the release of Assassin’s Creed Unity, the series’ first real next-gen title. The stakes were high as to be anticipated, and Ubisoft made every effort to create the most fantastic follow-up to the original Assassin’s Creed titles. Unfortunately, the game had comical animation bugs at launch and was totally under-optimized.

The missing face problem was the most amusing of the game’s many bugs. The face of in-game characters was effectively obliterated, as the name may imply, leaving just their eye and mouth textures. This one was rapidly made into a meme by gamers all around the world, who then used it to mock Ubisoft.

No Head Syndrome – Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Everything that is possible will occur in the Call of Duty multiplayer environment. However, Modern Warfare 3 gamers were baffled to learn that if a Flag bearer in an online match managed to kill a player on the other team, they would resurrect without their head.

The other troops obviously disagreed, even if it would look more amusing than unsettling. Anyone who saw the decapitated soldier was removed from the game, so it seems that the horror of it was too much for his colleagues to stomach. There are several types of combat scars.
