Before the launch of Overwatch 2, Blizzard hinted about the addition of the map named Gothenburg, first disclosed in the first trailer years back. Today and with the game already arrived here, the map is still not anywhere to be found. This has left fandom thinking about what precisely went to it and if the studio even schedules to launch it shortly. What happened to the Overwatch 2 Gothenburg Map?

The makers recently launched the dual-hero form Ramattra and the latest map named Shambali. With every fresh content, players cannot do anything but just wait for what the studio has in store for the game, and this has begun the discussion about Gothenburg’s whereabouts.

In Blizzcon 2019, the Gothenburg map was hinted to be one of the release maps in the sequel, giving players the latest match environment. Nonetheless, many things have shifted since the game’s launch, yet it has not come.

A Redditor started the discussion on the official Overwatch subreddit where they said that the aforesaid map might have been built as an Assault (2CP) before Blizzard determined to retire the map type. If this is the case, there is a chance that the studio is revising Gothenburg to be one more map type.

It is fascinating how the makers would launch the map, the very home of heroes Torbjorn and Brigitte Lindholm. It was even teased to feature Torbjorn’s workshop and a neighborhood called after the Lindholms. Of course, its addition would give gamers and players alike a peek into this fresh lore information and hero backgrounds.
